Robert Parker is known to be choosy about the wines he reviews. So, we weren’t sure what to expect when we submitted our 2013 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir and our 2013 Estate Reserve Pinot Noir to him earlier this year.
“Fruit is easy to attain here,” says Alex Kanzler of the flavors of the Sebastopol Hills, a small slice of the Russian River Valley. “It’s the accents, the exotic spice, that are harder.”
Wine Spectator included Kanzler Vineyards inaugural 2013 RRV Chardonnay in “9 Charming California Chardonnays” from Wine Spectator Online’s Sept. 14 issue. From the article, “Alex Kanzler, son of founders Stephen and Lynda, used grapes from the 12-acre Lolita Ranch vineyard, planted by the Martinelli family on a steeply sloped hillside in the cool Green Valley appellation of the Russian River Valley.”
