2017 Estate Reserve Pinot Noir

92 pts – Jeb Dunnuck
“Lastly, the 2017 Pinot Noir Estate Reserve comes from the Kanzler Estate Vineyard in the Russian River and is mostly Pommard clone, and spent 14 months in 58% new French oak. Redcurrants, mulled strawberries, black tea, and foresty, earthy notes all emerge from the glass, and it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a balanced, elegant texture, present tannins, and a great finish. It's another outstanding, impeccably made Pinot Noir I'd be happy to drink any time over the coming 5–7 years.”

90 pts – Wine Spectator

“The appellation 2017 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley comes from a handful of sites and saw 14 months in 30% new French oak. Ripe strawberries, mulberries, loamy earth, tea, and some brambly herb notes emerge from the glass, and it's medium-bodied, with some firm tannins and a good finish. This solid, thoroughly enjoyable effort should evolve nicely for 4–5 years or more.”

“The 2017 Pinot Noir Walker Station comes mostly from the Calera clone of Pinot Noir yet includes close to one-third from clone 115. All destemmed and aged in 50% new barrels, its ruby hue is followed by a bright, juicy, medium-bodied Pinot Noir with lots of black cherry, candied orange peel, and violet notes, nicely integrated acidity, and a crisp, clean finish. It's another well done Pinot Noir to enjoy over the coming 4–5 years.”
