As we raise our glasses to bottling the 2023 vintage, it brings us immense joy to celebrate a milestone with you, the 20th anniversary of Kanzler’s first wine. This journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, and we owe it to your unwavering support and shared passion for exquisite wine.
On June 26, 2004, Melissa Kanzler became Melissa Grant, and we celebrated the first wedding at Kanzler Vineyards, making our first bottles of estate wine for the occasion. Some of you were there on that beautiful day, and we cherish everyone that has been with Kanzler all these years.
The love shared at that wedding must have spread into the vines, as 2004 vintages that included Kanzler Vineyards grapes produced some of the best scores California Pinot Noir has ever received, including 96 points by Wine Spectator for our own Kanzler Vineyards Pinot Noir, and a 98 for Kosta Browne’s Kanzler Vineyard designate, still the highest rated California Pinot ever by Wine Spectator.
This recognition was a testament to the truth that great wines are made with passion, dedication, and hard work, the same things that make our wonderful marriage thrive after 20 years.
Over the past two decades, our vineyard has grown in both size and reputation. We’ve had the privilege of collaborating with esteemed winemakers and building lasting relationships with customers like you, who appreciate the art and science behind each bottle. Our commitment to sustainable farming practices and our respect for the land form the core of our philosophy, ensuring that every vintage reflects the true essence of our terroir.
To celebrate this special milestone, we are thrilled to be taking active roles in the ownership and management of Kanzler. As we look ahead to the next 20 years and beyond, we remain committed to crafting wines that are a true reflection of our vineyard’s unique character, and ensuring that each customer feels like an extension of the family. We are also excited to introduce new wines and offerings, so more of you can share the Kanzler experience.
This includes our new tasting room, and now the ability to host a limited number of weddings and events to celebrate your own milestones! We would be thrilled to share our special piece of Sonoma County for your special day. With the new tasting room and residence, a Kanzler wedding would be nothing short of captivating. And we can say that from experience!
